Amsterdam Technology bv, is a new company located in the Netherlands, raised by Amsterdam SES and Technolothgy bv. These companies have joined their expertise in development of software and mechanical solutions for dedicated ultrasonic scanning systems.
For ultrasonic C-scan image testing, an immersion scanning system will usually give the best performance. But these kinds of scanners have also their practical limitations; the object for inspection has to fit into the immersion tank, even when only a small area is to be inspected. Amsterdam Technology bv has combined the quality of an ultrasonic immersion scanning system with the practical benefits of a handheld instrument and developed a new type of instrument named: The “Mini Scanner”.
The “Mini Scanner” is a high resolution portable ultrasonic scanning system for inspection on location. The handheld scanner can be placed on an object and after a scan time of only a few seconds, a C-scan is directly presented on the ultrasonic control unit. All the data can be stored including the complete A-scan for each scan point. This is useful for evaluation purposes and after event setting control. With exchangeable scan heads for straight and angled scanning position the “Mini Scanner” can be used for a wide range of inspection locations & applications.
A typical application for the “Mini Scanner” would be spot weld inspection in the automotive industry. This ultrasonic test method for checking spot welds has proved to be suitable for the classification of welds and in optimising the parameters of welding machines for series productions.
